Please arrive 30 minutes before the procedure start time to complete intake and paperwork.
Your child cannot eat for 8 hours before you arrive. This includes milk and fruit juices with pulp. He/She can have clear liquids like water, apple/grape/cranberry juice or Gatorade until 2 hours before you arrive. It is vital to follow these instructions, as not doing so can cause serious problems under anesthesia, like vomiting into the lungs.
Dress your child in loose fitting clothing that you don’t mind getting soiled or stained.
Have your child use the restroom when you arrive at the dental office. This minimizes the chances of them urinating during the procedure.
Have your child wear a diaper/pullup, or bring a change of clothing in case they have a potty accident.
If your child is sick with fever, congestion, cough, or sore throat, please notify me, or the dental clinic, immediately. There is increased risk of anesthesia complications in sick children, and we will need to reschedule to keep your child safe.
Please remain in the dental clinic the entire time of your child’s treatment. The dental clinic will need your permission for treatment, and we will need you to be immediately available if there are any issues.
It is safest to have a responsible adult sit in the back seat with your child on the ride home, although it’s not required.
If your child is older and/or developmentally delayed, and likely to be uncooperative when going to sleep and waking up, please bring a second responsible adult to help.
